☀️Meet the AEPP Staff! ☀️

Meet Selorm, ESL/EAL Programming Assistant. We asked Selorm what he was looking forward to this summer:
"Hi everyone! I'm Selorm, an undergraduate at UChicago and I'm excited to be returning as an ESL/EAL Programming Assistant for AEPP! I'm super excited for another great year of Friday Board Games, and I'm looking forward to all the fun with all the students who join us! I'm also excited for all the fun adventures we'll have each weekend throughout Chicago and the connections we'll get to make! Shoutout to the incoming PSD Chemistry students! Enjoy this picture of me and benzene!"

Meet Victor, ESL/EAL Programming Assistant. We asked Victor what he's looking forward to this summer:

"I am looking forward to continuing to enjoy the outside with this very nice hot weather, visiting more farmers markets around Chicago and hopefully biking all the way to Indiana Dunes National Park before summer is over. He has taught all age groups from preschool to senior citizens and has participated in program development and teacher training for various institutions along with curriculum design in all 4 skill areas. ☀️Meet the AEPP Staff! ☀️

Meet Paul, AEPP Instructor:

"Paul Quaintance’s passion for communication, language, and linguistics led him to teaching, and in 2009 he received an MA in linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University. As a graduate assistant there, he specialized in academic writing instruction. Before joining the staff at UChicago’s English Language Institute (ELI), Paul taught English as an additional language at a number of universities and colleges in the Chicago area. He holds a BA in theatre arts from New Mexico State University and has worked professionally on stage and on camera. His deep roots in the arts inform his language pedagogy: he encourages linguistic risk-taking (LRT) in his course Mastering English through Improv and develops speaker intelligibility by sharing a vowel-centric approach to controlling rhythm and stress. He got into teaching seeking an intercultural experience abroad but ended up finding it right here in Hyde Park."
