What started in a Chico State printmaking studio became a career built on creativity and collaboration. “After the first print I pulled, I never looked back,” said Valentine. “Printmaking allowed me to draw, but it itched something else. Every print and every process felt like a problem that needed solving.”

Now, master printmaker Max Valentine (Art ’15) returns to campus as Personal to Political: Celebrating the African American Artists of Paulson Fontaine Press opens at the Janet Turner Print Museum. Featuring works by 17 contemporary African American artists, the exhibition showcases powerful voices and the creative partnerships behind every print.

A new semester means new opportunities to connect, lead, and find your people! 🐾 Wildcat Welcome allows incoming freshmen to begin their college experience by building connections with fellow students, exploring campus resources, and discovering opportunities to get involved.

Upcoming events include:

☀️ Sunset Social: Aug. 21 | 6 - 8 PM | Between Éstom Jámani and Meriam Library: Students can discover over 75 student orgs, grab free food, enter giveaways, and enjoy DJs and free swag.

🌊 WREC N’ Wild: Aug. 21 | 8 - 10 PM | The WREC: Enjoy a pool party!

🎬 Moonlight Movie - Monsters University: Aug. 22 | 8 PM | Shasta and Lassen Lawn: Free movie night on the lawn.

📚 Wildcat Resource Fair: Aug. 25 | 10 AM - 1 PM | Between the Creek and Meriam Library: Students can connect with over 40 campus departments offering FREE resources and services.

😻 Camp LEADCat: Aug. 28 | 9 AM - 1 PM | BMU 309 | Students will have the opportunity to connect with peers and student organizations and develop leadership skills.

🪀 Clubtacular: Sept. 2 | 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM | Trinity Lawn, Glenn Lawn, and between the Creek and Meriam Library: Students can explore 200+ clubs and organizations.
