Tuesday September 15th, Chico State MTAD Alum Daniel Atkinson will be giving a free talk about his book "The Rediscovery of George 'Nash' Walker: The Price of Black Stardom in Jim Crow America". This even is open to the public and will be in Colusa Hall 100B 9/15 @ 6:00 PM.

"I am a Chico State alumni (2000) and former Music Director for Northstate Public Radio from 2012 to 2013, shortly after I earned my PhD in ethnomusicology from the University of Washington. That said, I would like to spread the word about my book talk on September 15th in Colusa Hall 100B at 6:00 pm where I will discuss the first biography of George "Nash" Walker (1872-1911) of the Williams and Walker Theatre Company, the first Black people to find repeated success on Broadway beginning with In Dahomey 1903. The Rediscovery of George "Nash" Walker: The Price of Black Stardom in Jim Crow America was published via SUNY Press lst September and is the result of a decade of research that has revealed a trove of information that is new to the historical record." - Daniel Atkinson
