🌟 STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: TYION “TY” BLASINGAME 🌟
For Tyion “Ty” Blasingame, choosing healthcare was about finding a meaningful way to help others. With no previous experience in the medical profession, Ty saw The Christ College’s 15-week Medical Assisting Clinical Certificate (MACC) program as the perfect first step into healthcare.
After researching his options, Ty says The Christ College stood out for its community, culture, flexibility, and support. And once he started the program, its hands-on approach made an immediate difference.
“I learn best hands-on, so it’s helped me tremendously,” Ty said. “It helps me actually understand what the professors are teaching.”
Ty also appreciates the personality his faculty bring to the classroom and, most importantly, the support he has received. As the only male student in his cohort, he says he has always felt like he belongs.
“I’ve received a tremendous amount of support from the faculty,” he said. “Being the only male in the program, they do a great job of making sure I never feel excluded.”
Ty currently works at The Christ Hospital Health Network, giving him another opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world healthcare.
“I’ll hear about something in class and then see it take place in the hospital,” he said. “It helps me understand the situation.”
After earning his certification, Ty plans to gain experience in the medical field before continuing his education in nursing, with the goal of becoming a pediatric orthopedic nurse.
For Ty, MACC is the beginning of that journey — and he has some advice for others considering The Christ College:
