(What good news do you have?)

In 1968, African American students at the University of Cincinnati led by members of what was then the United Black Association (UBA) petitioned the University Board of Trustees and the President to commit to making the University of Cincinnati more conducive to African American students, faculty, and staff. In 1989, UBA submitted a proposal stating that African Amer

ican students wanted to create a positive environment on campus in which their presence on campus and history would be more accurately represented. During the spring of 1990, the University Board of Trustees requested that the President establish a committee to study the feasibility of implementing a Center. As a result of this study, the initiative, commitment, and support taken by University's students, staff, the President's office, faculty Senate, and Board of Trustees, made it possible for the African American Cultural and Research Center to open its doors on September 24, 1991. On July 1, 2010 the AACRC was re-named the African American Cultural and Resource Center.

Please join the AACRC as we collectively congratulate and celebrate Ms. Jackie Taylor’s impact while working at the University of Cincinnati.

Jackie began her journey at the AACRC in 2021, working as a Program Manager with the Transitions Program for first year students. She then became the Assistant Director for Leadership and Engagement, taking on the planning and implementation of the Spring Break Tour and Leadership Retreats and managing our graduate assistant and graduate intern amongst other responsibitilities.

Throughout her tenure at UC, Jackie has impacted the lives of many students through her formal role, and she has also served as a mentor to many as they looked to her for guidance and support. The impact that Ms. Jackie had on this university is immeasurable and we know that she will continue to be an advocate and leader in her next role as well.

Jackie will be moving back to her home state, and we wish her the best in her new career endeavor.

Join us as we celebrate and pay homage to the work of Ms. Jacquelyn Taylor by leaving a meaningful message below. If you can, join her farewell party on her last day. The farewell party will be in the AACRC Main Lounge (60 W Charlton) on Friday, April 11th, from 12:00 - 3:00 PM.
