Shoutout to Swati Chopra, Associate Professor of Graphic Design, for being featured in Mount St. Joseph University’s AI in Action series!
Swati is helping students explore how AI can expand creativity while keeping human thinking, ethics, and empathy at the center of the design process. She is also leading the new GRD 222: Design Thinking, AI, & the Future of Innovation, open to students across all majors.
As Swati shares, “AI is here to assist, support, and expand the creative process, but it absolutely cannot replace human thinking, creativity, empathy, or judgment.”
We’re proud to see our Graphic Design faculty preparing students to thoughtfully and creatively navigate the future of design and technology.

Another marvelous **Open Studio** took place at the Mount on Tuesday, August 18, bringing together artist alums participating in the upcoming **Common Threads Exhibition**!

Peggy Popejoy, Kate Ungrund, Martha Hill Carroll, Sherry Fuller, Susan Ruttle Lawrence, and Laura R. reconnected across graduating years through their shared memories of Dr. Sharon Kesterson Bollen’s fabric and fiber courses in Room 11. Stories of all-nighters, memorable critiques, and Dr. Bollen’s thoughtful red-pen feedback quickly filled the room!

The evening was full of conversation, inspiration, and sharing of concepts, techniques, and resources. Special thanks to Dr. Michaelann Kelley for joining the alums and helping provide refreshments.

Mark your calendars for the **Common Threads Exhibition Opening Reception at Studio San Giuseppe on Sunday, January 24, 2027!**
