The ARC continues to shape organizations around the country, and around the world!

Beyond her leadership at MTEI, Director Miriam Raider-Roth co-directs the Action Research Center at the University of Cincinnati (ARC) — now marking its 20th year. With its mission to strengthen communities through participatory and reflective practice, Miriam’s action-research work deeply informs how she guides MTEI’s approach to advancing Jewish educational leaders.

In a recent conversation hosted by the ARC, she reflected on seeing academic ideas take root in real schools. “What’s exciting is to see methodologies born in academia and then have them take hold by practitioners and teachers and leaders to make changes,” she said.

One powerful example is the Group Level Assessment (GLA) participatory process, developed by a colleague at UC and now used by MTEI educators to strengthen their Jewish learning communities.

Thank you, Miriam, for all that you do to equip Jewish educational leaders to create meaningful impact.

The end of 2024 was full of ARC festivities! Heather Gerker, ARC member and former ARC graduate assistant, had her robing ceremony at our annual Winter Party, and then graduated the next day. So wonderful to celebrate our graduates and the hard work of our students!

The School of Education at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Professor-Educator (non-tenure track) in Applied Research Methods.

This Educator position involves teaching introductory statistics courses and the introduction to research methods course as well as mentoring master's students using a variety of research methods in their capstone projects. In addition, the position includes the possibility of teaching other applied research and evaluation courses aligned with the educator's expertise (e.g., survey methods, qualitative methods, or conducting quantitative research). Although this is primarily a teaching position, the successful candidate will be expected to engage with and advise graduate students; actively participate in program meetings and support program functioning; and contribute to ongoing development and review of courses/curriculum. More than anything, we are looking for a great teacher, mentor, and colleague who deeply cares about student success and training the next generation of researchers.

The Action Research Center mourns the loss of our amazing member, Dr. Khahlia Joy Sanders. Author of a number of publications, including her exquisite dissertation "Microaggressions, emotional regulation, and thriving in higher education: A mixed methods study about Black women faculty." Khahlia will be sorely missed. May her memory be a blessing. May she rest in peace, power, and joy.
