In Columbus, Ohio, in May of 1984 a group of undergraduate students led by Dr. Josue Cruz, Assistant Vice Provost to the Office of Minority Affairs, set out to research the country for other Greek lettered organizations and learn how to begin a Latino/a fraternity at the Ohio State University. On March 10, 1985:
At The Ohio State University,
thirteen men and women were officially initiated as the NOBLE founders of Alpha Psi Lambda. These individuals set the foundation for what is now the nation's first and largest co-ed Latino interest fraternity.
1996:
Theta Chapter was established at the University of Cincinnati
Today:
Alpha Psi Lambda has grown to include 46 chapters with over 3900 members. It is the nation's first and largest co-ed Latino interest fraternity. Alpha Psi Lambda National Inc is Latino based and welcomes individuals from diverse cultures, races and backgrounds. We are more than a brotherhood or sisterhood, we are a FAMILIA!
