This morning, our seminarians joined the annual Cincinnati Men’s Mass and Eucharistic Procession. Mass was at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains with Archbishop Robert G. Casey before the annual procession from the Cathedral, through the Over-The-Rhine neighborhood and to Old St. Mary’s for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

Thank you to Mercy McAuley High School for the spiritual bouquet delivered last week for everyone here and the role the priests, seminarians, deacons and faculty have in faith formation across the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Our prayers go to the students and faculty at Mercy McAuley as they go through their own formational journeys.

We join many in the Springboro community in mourning the passing of Deacon Richard Hobbs earlier this week. Deacon Hobbs graduated from the Lay Pastoral Ministry Program (now School of Theology) in 2007 and entered the permanent diaconate formation program, which he completed and was ordained to in 2010. Deacon Hobbs served as a deacon at St. Mary of the Assumption in Springboro, part of the Saint John Paul II Parish Family.

In addition, Deacon Hobbs had his Licentiate in Canon Law, and assisted in teaching Canon Law and Tribunal classes at the Seminary. He was also a member of the Archdiocese Tribunal, serving as the Assessor, Judge and Defender of the Bond during his time.

Our prayers are with his wife Julie and his three children during this time.
