Yesterday at the Symposi-Off, our students gathered to give lightning talks and pronounced their hot takes on everything-Classics and beyond. Feasting on pizza, we heard our fellows' takes on coins, Spider-Man, Catullus, Nolan's Odyssey... Thank you to Dr. Kelly Shannon-Henderson and all the participants, and congrats to this year's winner, Spencer Goods, who taught us about the most expensive coin in the world!

Congratulations to Matthijs Wibier who is featured in UCNews for his recent edition and translation of a previously unknown Roman legal text: "The Penn Parchment: A Collection of Roman Imperial Constitutions from the Late Fourth Century in the Penn Museum"

UC Classics scholar Matthijs Wibier reconstructed and translated a 1,600-year-old Latin legal text from Egyptian parchment fragments at the Penn Museum, revealing previously unknown Roman tax laws.

With Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey bringing Homer's epic to the big screen, University of Cincinnati Classics scholars are helping audiences explore the history behind the story.

Professor Jack Davis shared his thoughts with The Chronicle of Higher Education, while Senior Research Associate Sharon Stocker highlighted how UC's archaeological discoveries at the Palace of Nestor—including Bronze Age artifacts and the internationally renowned "Griffin Warrior" tomb—continue to reshape what we know about ancient Greece.

Their work shows how archaeology brings timeless stories to life and inspires the next generation of Classics scholars.
