My Farm Ecology class had a wonderful visit to Rose Hill Farm this evening, and got caught up in the middle of this crazy storm. Luckily the 150+ year old property had tons of overgrown trees and outbuildings we darted in between for bouts of shelter around all the glimpsing, learning, and storytelling throughout the tour!

At one point farmer David Chal gave us a lesson on biodynamic farming while we munched on freshly picked grapes (see photo), torrents of rain falling all around us, and not one complaint was uttered. Plant people are just different (in a good way) and sometimes education is an adventure for sure!

Love the theater? What about a play based on horticulture??? 🌱 Message below shared from alumnus Robyn Novak- (We are so incredibly proud of all the wonderful things our graduates are doing to bring botany and horticulture back into society and current culture. Way to go, Robyn!🌱🌱🌱)

Hi Hort friends! It's Robyn (class of '24!). I wrote a play about plant adaptations and the lessons we can learn from them as we face the climate crisis. It's running right now at the Cincy Fringe Festival!

Yesterday my botany class was exploring spring blooms and early fruit production on campus. We came across a humble euonymus shrub and peering into a small opening, we found a perfect nest with robin's blue eggs! We discussed the importance of not disturbing the nest, but to always keep your eyes open for surprises. You never know what you may find🪺✨️
