Today's is CST's Dr. Namjoonk Kim who wrote on the struggles of worship in the post-Covid era. He says: "Coronavirus has spread a culture of avoiding face-to-face contact and caused major changes in society as a whole by expanding remote education and telecommuting working. It is expected these changes will present a great challenge to the worship community in the future.
Churches are in a situation where they have to change the way they used to do their ministry and worship service. In particular, in this situation, new questions and investigations are needed about the purpose, meaning, action, nature, order, method, time, place, people, and the sacrament of the worship service. The economy, politics, society, and culture have continued to grow through the flexibility of innovating what is familiar, what has been done well, and taking new risks that have not yet been verified. The same goes for the church community. There are churches that have rather increased the number of church members in the COVID-19 era, and this is the result of actively activating online and offline worship service and gathering from the center of field worship service, which has been familiar and good and applying flexibility to worship time and space.
I hope people can experience honesty, humility, hospitality, and despair turning into hope through meeting with God and the gospel. I hope you, who are asking questions about worship in the post-Corona era, will be able to read the paradigm of a new civilization triggered by Corona. Moreover, I pray that it will be a community of worship that contributes to transforming civilization through creative innovation in worship service.
