Respiratory Therapy + Radiology = Teamwork in Action! 🫁🩻

Emily Burnett, Director of Clinical Education for the Respiratory Therapy program gave our students an inside look at oxygen, masks, nebulizer treatments, ventilators, ET tubes, chest tubes, and beyond. Because sometimes X-ray has to wait for the breathing treatment to finish… even X-rays know you can’t rush a breath! 😂💨

Say what?! Our variety of X-ray equipment is complete now! We have a C-arm in the house!

This piece of equipment is used in the operating rooms and pain clinic settings. Students will have the opportunity to practice hands on in the lab before going into the OR for the first time. Talk about a relief 😮‍💨

Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Professor, Michelle Sweeney, demonstrates spatial resolution with a dinosaur 🦖 and the shadows it creates. Our faculty are committed to hands on learning and demonstrating concepts in a way that relates to real world concepts.

In basic terms: The higher the spatial resolution, the sharper the image and the more detail you can see. Remember: Spatial resolution = image detail and sharpness.

Safety first! Our Rad Tech students practiced hands-on patient transfers using the Hoyer lift, wheelchairs, stretchers, gait belts, and backboards. 🚑 From proper body mechanics to safe patient handling, these essential skills help prepare our future radiologic technologists to provide safe, confident, and compassionate care! ❤️

🔵 Jeopardy, Radiology Style!

Adjunct faculty member Jen Boyd created a fun and competitive Jeopardy review game—and our students were ALL IN!

They used buzzers and had to answer with “what is” for points to count.

Many laughs, (mostly) friendly competition, and a great amount of learning and review along the way!

Reminder: remove the diaper before exposure and never leave a baby unattended 🚫

ASRT Student to Leadership Development Program applications are open until October 31st. Accepted students will be invited to attend the ASRT Annual meeting in June 2027 in Orlando!

Abdomen lab practice consisted of accurate positioning, routine and special projections, breathing on expiration, shielding radiosensitive organs, applying comfort measures, and critical thinking skills.

🍕🎉 Pizza, Desserts & New Connections!

Our seniors know how to welcome the freshmen! 🎊 They hosted the annual Mentor-Mentee Party—complete with pizza, desserts, and plenty of time to get to know each other!
