Hi Economics Majors,

I'm Franco Vijandre, an Associate Consultant at Bain & Company and Pomona College alumna from the class of 2022. I'm reaching out on behalf of Bain to share some exciting opportunities about upcoming internships and full-time job openings.

For those who might not be familiar, Bain is a preeminent management consulting firm which helps leaders from all industries tackle high-level strategic problems such as new product launches, planning for major technology shifts, and developing long-term consumer strategies. The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) is seeking teaching assistants for our summer programs. CTY offers challenging academic programs for highly talented elementary, middle, and high school students from across the country and around the world. We are predoctoral fellows working with Michael Greenstone, Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago and director of the Energy Policy Institute (EPIC). Our team is looking for students currently in their penultimate year to join as research fellows for summer 2023. We work on a variety of topics in energy and environmental economics, ranging from solar energy to pollution to the effects of climate change.

We were hoping to recirculate this internship opportunity before the upcoming application deadline. If you have already received and sent out this email, we would appreciate it if it could be circulated again if possible.

My name is Selin Selcuker, and I am an Operations Intern at the Tulane Journal of Policy and Political Economy. We are nearing the end of our article submission period for our next edition, and we were hoping that you would be willing to forward this message to any students who take your courses or have recently completed an honors thesis. The deadline for submissions is October 31, at 11:59pm CST. Any work submitted after this deadline will be considered for the following publication.

In short, the Tulane Journal is an internationally-recognized undergraduate publication focusing on original student research in politics, economics, and public health. Submitted articles are reviewed by a 50-person faculty-review panel, and those that are accepted are published in print and online. Previous editions have received submissions from universities across four continents and are indexed in the Library of Congress.

We are officially partnered with the Tulane Departments of Political Science and Economics, the Tulane Murphy Institute, the Tulane School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, and the Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) Societies of the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Economic Research Summer Intern application is NOW OPEN for the Summer of 2023.

This program provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable research experience, network with peers in the field, and to work side-by-side with our economists and research assistants to support research and policy work. Interns work full time for 12 consecutive weeks and are typically asked to:
• support economists in their basic and applied research – inclusive of collecting data, conducting moderately complex statistical analysis, writing code for model estimations and organizing the presentation of results;
• assist economists with their research and analysis of public policy issues and events;
• prepare a variety of charts, tables, and descriptive text for staff economists and department management.

These internships are ideal for students looking to build their research portfolios, who have a potential interest in graduate school, or who are considering applying for the Chicago Fed’s Research Assistant program after graduation. Summer 2023 Economic Research interns are given priority consideration for 2024 RA openings providing positive recommendations regarding performance throughout their internship experience.
