WV Public Service Training - Clarksburg

WV Public Service Training - Clarksburg Public Service Training primarily provides training to emergency service providers including EMS, Fire Service, Rescue, Law Enforcement, and others.

Public Service Training offers cost effective training solutions for public and private sector needs. All Public Service Training instructors are state certified in the field in which they teach. Classes are taught in cooperation with Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs), the Environmental Training Center, West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services, West Virginia Office of Emergency

Management, and the West Virginia State Fire Commission. Our training provides education and certification to Fire, EMS, Police, Surface and Underground Mining, Private Industry, Schools, Water and Wastewater Treatment Operators, as well as other individuals and organizations throughout the RESA 7 twelve-county region. Public Service Training's foremost concern is providing the individuals and organizations we serve with high quality education at a reasonable cost. Public Service Training in West Virginia assists local, state, federal, and private agencies in meeting employment needs and complying with several state and federal regulations. Water Rescue Awareness/Operations
A Water Rescue Awareness/Operations Course (34 hours) will be held at the Whitmer Volunteer Fire Department in Randolph County August 15, 17, 18, 20, & 29, 2026. Class will meet 7am – 5pm on weekend dates and 5pm – 9pm on weekday dates. Justin George is the lead instructor. This class meets the JPRs for NFPA 1006, as well as the requirements for IFSAC certification. Students will be required to complete a swim test to participate in the class. Students should come “water ready” to each class session. PPE should include helmet, PFD with integrated quick release, whistle, water knife, and skin protective clothing appropriate for water (wet suit, dry suit, or swimwear shorts and t-shirt depending on temperatures for each class session.

EMT Initial Grant Town EMS Marion County

This approximately 155-hour course is being conducted at the Grant Town EMS/Grant Town Community Building in Grant Town, WV (Marion County). The course will begin on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 6:00pm. Class will meet on the following dates: September 30; October 7, 8, 14, 15, 17, 21, 22, 24, 28, 29; November 4, 5, 18, 19, 21; December 2, 3, 9, 17, 19, 21, 2026; January 6, 7, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 27, 28; February 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, and 18, 2027. Practical skills testing date TBD. Class times will be 6:00pm – 10:00pm on weeknights and 9am – 5pm on weekend dates, unless directed otherwise by the course instructor. The lead instructor for the course is Gauge Miller. Students MUST bring a laptop or tablet to the first class session on September 23, 2025. Students must have access to a computer outside of the classroom, reliable internet, and be self motivated to complete assignments and spend time studying outside of formal class hours.

Rope Rescue Operations

This 20 hour class meeting the NFPA 1006, 2021 Ed., and the requirements for IFSAC certification, is being held at Huttonsville-Mill Creek VFD, Mill Creek, WV (Randolph County) on September 19 & 20, 2026. Class times are 8am-6pm each day. Jimmy Glasscock is the course instructor. Students should come to class each day dressed for rope rescue work (long pants, helmet, gloves, closed toe shoes or boots). Cost for this class is $70 per person. Prerequisite training is rope rescue awareness or core rescue prerequisites course.

Active Threat Course

The Active Threat Awareness Course was recently rolled out by the WV Office of EMS to provide foundational knowledge to every EMS provider about responding to these types of events. We have set this course up in an asynchronous online format, and it can be accessed by using the registration link below. You must complete all modules of the course, as well as the quiz at the end, in order to be considered complete. We will process completions for this periodically, so please be patient in waiting on a certificate after completing. Thanks!

EMT Preceptor Training

Anyone that wishes to be a preceptor for students within a WVPST Clarksburg EMT course is required to complete preceptor training through our program. While many folks completed this training in the past, things are constantly changing, and we have rolled out a new preceptor course.
