Col. (Ret.) John A. Brunt ('83) will be inducted into the APSU Governors Military Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Brunt rose from enlisted soldier to colonel over a more than 30-year Army career. The Senatobia, Mississippi, native enlisted in 1975 and reached the rank of sergeant before enrolling at Austin Peay, where he graduated summa cm laude in 1983 as a Distinguished Military Graduate of the ROTC program. He served in the active-duty Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserve during three wars, including command of a signal company during Operation Desert Storm. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal. He later led the Senatobia Housing Authority and has supported the APSU Military Alumni Chapter since its inception.

Brunt will be honored alongside his fellow inductees during the APSU Governors Military Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Friday, Nov. 6.

Six distinguished alumni whose military service has made an impact around the world will be inducted into the APSU Governors Military Hall of Fame as the Class of 2026. Join us in congratulating this year's honorees and thanking them for their extraordinary service and leadership.

"Throughout our nearly 100-year history, the military community has helped shape who we are as a university," APSU President Mike Licari said. "This class reflects that legacy. It is an honor to serve this community and a privilege to recognize these distinguished alumni, whose service reflects the very best of Austin Peay."

A new scholarship endowment at Austin Peay will honor the lasting impact of Glistine Green Jones. The endowment honors Jones' legacy of leadership, mentorship and service while supporting future members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Kappa Rho Chapter.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of The Ivy Endowment Circle and their commitment to honoring Glistine Green Jones,” said Kris Phillips, vice president for Alumni, Engagement and Philanthropy. “This endowment not only celebrates the legacy she created at Austin Peay, but also provides future generations of Kappa Rho members with opportunities to continue that legacy through scholarship and service.”

Austin Peay alumnus SGT John W. Hunt III ('89, '08) was honored during Homecoming weekend as the City of Clarksville renamed a street in his memory.

A two-time APSU graduate, Hunt dedicated 37 years to the Clarksville Police Department and three years to the APSU Police Department, leaving a lasting impact on both the university and the community.

We're proud to boost Judith Castleberry's ('73, '92) story for the impact she's made as an educator in Clarksville-Montgomery County, and beyond.

~ Judith Castleberry ~
Judith Castleberry graduated from Clarksville High School in 1969 and began attending Austin Peay State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Education which she received in 1973. She also received her licensure in administration and supervision from Austin Peay State University. She went on to pursue and obtain a Master’s degree in Library Science from Vanderbilt University.
Castleberry worked within the Clarksville – Montgomery County School System for about 40 years. She was a librarian at Northeast Middle School, a technology coordinator, and the principal for Clarksville High School. She received the title of principal in 2001, which was the same time the 33-year-old high school building was undergoing a $12 million renovation.
Castleberry was well loved in the community outside of the school system as well. In 2015, she was named the Honorary Chairperson of Love Lights a Tree – a local fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Castleberry had been diagnosed with and fought against breast cancer and dedicated her retirement years to the mentorship of others experiencing cancer. She is truly a light for every endeavor she takes on.

After 37 years of dedication, laughter, guidance, and unwavering support, today is Lynne Halliburton's final day at Austin Peay as she begins a well-deserved retirement. Through the years, she has made a lasting impact on students, colleagues, and the Austin Peay community. Thank you for the care, kindness, and wisdom you've shared along the way.

While this chapter is coming to a close, this isn't goodbye. We know you'll always be part of the APSU family. Thank you for everything, Lynne. We'll be cheering you on in whatever comes next.❤️🎩

The APSU National Alumni Association has welcomed 12 new members to its Board of Directors. Representing a wide range of professions, the new members join returning board members in helping guide efforts to connect alumni and strengthen the Austin Peay community.

"We are thrilled to welcome this outstanding group of new members to the NAA Board of Directors," said Gretchen Hancock, APSU National Alumni Association board president. "Their passion for Austin Peay, combined with the continued dedication of our returning board members, will help us grow the Govs For Life Experience."
