On October 6, 2026, 74 new students were inducted into the Clemson chapter of Psi Chi, the International Psychology Honor Society.
This is the largest number of initiates in Clemson’s history. 🎉
The goal of the organization is to promote excellence in the field of psychology and offer members access to scholarships, grants, leadership roles, networking opportunities, and publication options.
The Psi Chi leadership team is comprised of Avary Collins (President), Bella Rider (Vice President), Julia Wolman (Secretary), Nicole Clemans (Treasurer), and Megan Noble (PR Officer). These students are highly engaged in the field of Psychology.
Julia Wolman notes that “during my time at Clemson, I have had the privilege of taking opportunities within the Psychology department to grow academically and professionally, leading me to join Psi Chi, and later serve as Secretary on its executive board. I am also currently working with Dr. Byrne’s RC-Link CI project, which I have found to be incredibly rewarding. In addition to my extra curriculars, I continue to challenge myself academically and even earned a spot on the Presidents list this past semester!”.
Bella Rider was awarded funding through the Summer Creative Inquiry + Undergraduate Research program to conduct research at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital’s Addiction Medicine Clinic under the mentorship of Dr. Pericot-Valverde. As part of this ongoing study, she recruited patients with opioid use disorder and conducted monthly assessments of their combustible and electronic cigarette cravings, use patterns, and perceptions.
Avary Collins is a student researcher in Dr. Patrick Rosopa’s Quantitative Psychology Lab, where she analyzes surveys from U.S. Navy sailors to evaluate organizational safety frameworks and construct validity. She is also a student researcher in Dr. Anna Baker’s REACH Lab where she contributes to community-engaged research aimed at reducing healthcare stigma, supporting patient agency, and improving quality of life for individuals experiencing medical challenges like infertility and chronic pain.
