Day 2 and 3 Astro Camp - Campers have been busy learning about Planets and Constellations. In the snacktivity time they created soil layers in a cup and crafted Constellations from marshmallows and pretzels to help them relate to the topic of the day.

Day 1 of ASTRO camp started bright and shining, despite the weather. Our theme for the day is Heliophysics. Each morning the group meets for a mission briefing before breaking off into age groups. The campers convene again as a whole group for Snacktivity where they make the daily snack as we continue to learn about the topic for the day - THE SUN!!

Day 3 of Okra Create Camp is all about Pop Art again. Today Claes Oldenburg and Andy Warhol were our feature artists. Our pizza soft sculptures and clay donuts were inspired by Oldenburg's work and oil pastels donuts were inspired by Warhol's work. We learned how this art movement is used in every day items and bold colors to brighten the world around us.

Day 2 - Okra Create Camp. Today our campers learned all about the Impressionist movement and specifically Claude Monet. Like Monet, they sketched "en plein air" and also used two different techniques to produce the soft look of impressionism. We can't wait to see how their art pieces dry.

Day 1 - Yayoi Kusama was our featured artist today as Okra Create Camp. We learned all about Pop Art and the element of design: patterns. Campers practiced pattern making with an oil resistant watercolor and a hand tracing exercise. The final project was a 3D pumpkin inspired by Kusama's work.
