CSU Law assistant professor of law, co-faculty director of the Center for Health Law and Policy, and Deans’ Scholar Laura C. Hoffman, J.D., LL.M., S.J.D., recently contributed a post to Harvard’s Bill of Health, a well-known and respected blog in the health law community.

Professor Hoffman’s post, “Intellectual Disability, Geography, and a Life-or-Death Decision,” discusses a U.S. Supreme Court decision in Hamm v. Smith involving the issue of determining intellectual disability in death penalty cases.

CSU College of Law is proud to announce the distinguished members of the 2026 Hall of Fame Class, recognizing alumni and friends whose leadership, service, and professional achievements have made a lasting impact on our law school, our community, and the legal profession.

Now in its ninth year, the CSU College of Law Hall of Fame Celebration honors individuals whose accomplishments exemplify the values of excellence, justice, and service that define our institution. Their contributions have helped shape the legal community while inspiring future generations of lawyers.

In addition to celebrating these remarkable honorees, the Hall of Fame Celebration serves a vital purpose. CSU Law’s Pardon, Clemency and Reentry Clinic aims to help indigent individuals in Northeast Ohio continue to redefine themselves and their futures after a criminal conviction.

Under the supervision of Clinic Director Khalida Sims Jackson, CSU students engage in each phase of representation and are encouraged to participate in community outreach events where they can meet potential clients and provide on the spot eligibility assessments.
