Such an important resource for caregivers! Just imagine getting 18 months of personalized guidance, resources and encouragement!!

Meet Kimberly Hill.

When Kimberly became her father's guardian after he was diagnosed with dementia, she welcomed him into her home to keep him safe while balancing the demands of work, family and caregiving. Knowing she couldn't do it alone, she turned to Benjamin Rose's WeCare…Because You Do caregiver support program.

For 18 months, Care Navigator Cathy Franz provided personalized guidance, resources and encouragement, helping Kimberly navigate the challenges of caregiving while reminding her to make time for her own well-being.

Caregiving is a journey, but you don't have to face it alone. Learn more about WeCare…Because You Do: https://bit.ly/4i0qtJc

Am in awe of all that she does. Dr. Allison Caban-Holt is a member of the DAWN Alzheimer research team at Wake Forest.

Alzheimer's research has long left out the very communities most affected by it. Dr. Allison Caban-Holt is changing that.

At Wake Forest University School of Medicine's Maya Angelou Research Center for Healthy Communities, she's built her career around racial disparities in Alzheimer's research and getting real support to family caregivers, over 200 reached in North Carolina alone.

Alzheimer disease is the most common cause of dementia. Look for these symptoms in loved ones.

Do you know how to spot the signs of dementia?

In the early stages, symptoms can be subtle, easily overlooked and mistaken as part of ageing. Memory problems, confusion, or changes in mood and behaviour may not always raise immediate concern.

But noticing these changes matters.

It might not be dementia, but if it is, getting support early can make a real difference. An early diagnosis can help people access the right care, treatment, and guidance when they need it most.

If you recognise any of the signs in yourself or someone you care about, don’t ignore them – take that next step and speak to your GP.

You’re not alone 💙

[Image description: An infographic titled ‘Signs and symptoms of dementia’ features a light grey background and 10 navy blue illustrations accompanying each sign and symptom. From top right to bottom left, they read:Getting lost; Difficulty judging distances; Memory loss; Struggling to find the right word; Becoming easily upset; Struggling to make decisions; Acting inappropriately; Repeating questions and phrases; Putting objects in unusual places and Losing track of time and dates.]
