North Idaho College Culinary Arts Preparing the next generation of chefs with hands-on training, real-world experience, and a taste of NIC life. College Dr, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814!

Join us for a meal at Emery's or the Lakeview Sip N' Study at 420 N. The Culinary Arts program provides students with entry-level skills in the food service industry. Students receive instruction in cooking and baking, as well as theoretical knowledge that underlines competency in the field. Additional training involves table service, menus, cost controls, storeroom, and stewarding. Students will have the opportunity to:

- Learn and effectively practice basic and advanced technical skills in food preparation and service.
- Understand the principles of food identification, nutrition, and food and beverage composition.
- Gain experience in the proper use and maintenance of professional food service equipment.
- Become familiar with the layout and workflow of professional kitchens and bakeshops.
- Gain an appreciation for the history, evolution, and international diversity of the culinary arts.
- Develop a sense of professionalism necessary for working successfully in the food service industry.

We were honored to be a part of St Vincent de Paul North Idaho Souport The End of Homelessness event today at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds! 🍁🍲

Our North Idaho College Culinary Arts team created a delicious Butternut Squash Soup that captured all the warmth of the season, and it was an absolute hit! Volunteers from our CTE team were excited to share information about our North Idaho College Career and Technical Education programs and offerings with attendees.

The Souport event brings together local organizations or groups to serve up their best soups, while the community comes out to taste, vote for their favorites, and support an important cause. Every dollar raised helps provide emergency shelter, the St. Vincent Warming Center, housing programs, and essential care for our neighbors navigating homelessness and crisis.

A huge thank you to all who were involved today, to our volunteers who staffed the table and served soup to hundreds of people, to the Culinary students and instructors who created the recipe and made enough soup to feed everyone, and to the folks who attended and supported this incredible cause! ❤

We recently visited our Sous Chef Apprentices working at the Coeur d'Alene Casino, and we got the chance to talk to them about how this program has helped them succeed on their career journey.
