UMD Disability Summit: Access and Crisis: Disability and the Collapse of Everything

April 12th - 14th, 2021 free virtual conference

This is the final reminder to register for this year’s conference: go.umd.edu/2021registration. All are welcome at this free conference.

In the wake of the 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act many are questioning how to continue to carry this energy forward. How can we foreground access in crisis? There are many skills that we need to carry into the ‘new normal’ which must center intersectional applications of racial and disability justice. We welcome you to bring your vision of inclusive and accessible resources, skills and actions that can propel the disability justice movement forward.
PROGRAM AVAILABLE!

We are excited to announce that the final program is now available. The program is available to download in PDF, word document, or plain text formats (https://pcdi.umd.edu/summit/2021/summit-program-2021). We invite you to share the program and registration (go.umd.edu/2021registration) with your communities, as well as the UMD Disability Summit flyer!

Please feel free to distribute to your networks. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].

PCDI SAC alumni, Audrey Wilke, is featured in Maryland Today in an article titled 'A Commitment to Leveling the Field: With Funding From National Award, Recent Grad Aims to Create Guide for Disability-inclusive Landscape Design'.

“I want to have some part in creating landscapes that are more equitable, especially for people with disabilities... I think it is so forgotten because most designers haven’t had a firsthand experience with disabilities, so it’s easy to get lost in ADA code.”

Audrey was recently awarded funding by the Landscape Architecture Foundation as a 2020 Olmsted Scholar finalist; one of eight students to receive the national honor!

During the recent surge of activism by Black Lives Matter, Black people with disabilities have insisted that there is no justice without disability inclusion.
