Join us for our annual AGNR Tailgate on Saturday, September 19 from 4:30-7:30pm at the Animal Science Courtyard, just before the Maryland and Virginia Tech football game.

Whether you're planning to attend the game or just hang out, you're invited to enjoy delicious food from Calvert Crabs & Seafood, tasty beverages and your chance to connect with members of our college community.

Congratulations to alum Michael Wijesinghe '19 for winning the 2026 GrowerTalks Young Grower Award.

Michael is an Agricultural Science and Technology graduate and is head grower for Bell Nursery.

"The best growers don’t just work with plants—they genuinely love the process, the problem-solving and the quiet victories that come with it," says Michael. "The passionate positivity from people in the horticulture industry made me optimistic about pursuing a career as a greenhouse grower. AGNR Alumni Spotlight: Jack Trimble '14

An Environmental Science & Technology - University of Maryland grad, Jack is an environmental consultant. While at UMD, he was involved in the Maryland Filmmaker’s Club and Alpha Gamma Rho.

He also worked for the ENST Project Development Center, where he gained hands-on experience in welding, metalworking, woodworking, and plumbing, skills that have proven valuable in his professional life. One of his favorite classes was “Treatment Wetlands” with Dr. Brandon, which deepened his appreciation for applied environmental design.
