The American Concrete Institute - University of Maryland Chapter aims to further education in concrete and provide experience with concrete design and construction. The American Concrete Institute as a national organization is a worldwide authority and resource for developing and distributing standards, educational and training resources, certification programs, and expertise for those involved in

concrete design, construction, and materials, and is dedicated to the best use of concrete. Our student chapter’s mission is to utilize the resources provided by the ACI and expand student interest and knowledge in concrete. Students will also have the opportunity to gain hands on experience with concrete through participation in student competitions.

Our students visited a middle school over winter break to introduce 7th and 8th grade students to civil engineering and concrete. Students got to mix their own colored concrete, make crafts out of it with candy molds, and take them home as souvenirs, along with a newfound appreciation for the concrete in their lives!
