University of Maryland Individual Studies Program Alum, Meg Eden Kuyatt (Cognitive Science and Written Communication '12), recently received a 2024 ALA Schneider Family Book Award Honor for her book in verse 'Good Different.' Congratulations Meg on this literary honor!

From the American Library Association, this award honors "an author or illustrator for a book that embodies an artistic expression of the disability experience for child and adolescent audiences."

'Good Different', was published by Scholastic Press, an imprint of Scholastic Inc. Main character, Selah, navigates the challenges of day-to-day life as a person who faces the unique obstacles of neurodivergence. But as she soon starts to figure out more about who she is, she comes to understand that different doesn’t mean damaged.
