Join us for a conversation with UMD alum Christian Kim, founder of Christian Kim Law Firm, a VA-accredited attorney who represents veterans nationwide.

Before opening his own practice, he served as an Attorney Advisor at the Board of Veterans' Appeals and as an appellate attorney in VA's Office of General Counsel, where he litigated before the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

He'll talk about his services, including:
▫️Initial VA disability claims
▫️Increased ratings & TDIU
▫️Appeals to the Board and the Court

Bring your questions. Whether you're filing for the first time or dealing with a denial or low rating, this is a chance to hear from someone who has seen the process from the inside.

Here are 4 ways to get involved this month!

🔹October Networking Night – Grill Marx, Oct 1
An evening for veteran students to connect with each other, alumni, and local professionals over food and conversation — great for building your network before internship/career season ramps up.

🔹Woodworking Workshop – Terrapin Works, Oct 14–15
Hands-on session at UMD's Terrapin Works makerspace where you'll learn basic woodworking skills and build your own project — no experience needed, just come ready to make something.

🔹VA Benefits & Disability Workshop w/ Christian Kim – Oct 19
Christian Kim, a UMD alum and attorney who runs his own practice, will walk through the VA disability claims and appeals process and share how his firm helps veterans navigate it — a must for anyone with an open or upcoming claim.

🔹 Maryland Farm Pumpkin Patch
A laid-back fall outing to a local pumpkin patch — pick your pumpkin, enjoy the farm activities, and spend some time outdoors with the VSL community before the semester gets crazy.
