Hey everyone! My name is Ryan Jee (Ryan Jee ). I joined ΘT during Fall 2023 as a member of the Alpha Delta class. During my time with ΘT, I served as both the Outer and Inner Guard. I graduated from UMD in Spring 2026 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and currently work as a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland.
At APL, I work in the Research & Exploratory Development Department, where I focus on the mechanical design side of various government projects. My day-to-day work includes CAD, rapid prototyping, technical drawings, assemblies, and design for manufacturing. Basically, I get to design things, build things, and figure out how to make them actually work.
Outside of work, I’m pretty much always doing something active. I’ve played baseball since 1st grade, and during my four years at UMD, I played almost every intramural sport I could get my hands on, including flag football, pickleball, volleyball, softball, basketball, and tennis. These days, I play in an APL softball league as well as on another tournament softball team. I also love lifting and recently started getting into running.
When I’m not outside, you can probably find me in my room learning a new song on my electric guitar. I’ve been listening to a lot of Tame Impala and Daft Punk lately. I also like drawing comic-style characters in my sketchbook. Some of my favorite superheroes are Spider-Man, Iron Man, Invincible, and pretty much anyone with super-speed.
And finally, I’m a huge foodie. One of my favorite “big back” activities is getting a huge group of friends together and ordering a fleet of sushi boats or going out for KBBQ. I’m a firm believer that food is the best way to bring people together :)
I’ve made so many great memories with ΘT and some of my best friends. This fraternity has given me so much, from helping me grow my professional and social network, to creating study groups during some of my hardest academic semesters, and even teaming up for my Capstone project, which earned an Honorable Mention at Expo Day.
I miss you guys, but don’t worry… I’ll be back before u know it. ❤️
