“Resonant Site” is an immersive, multi-screen audiovisual exhibit exploring the intersection of industry and the environment in Baltimore. Supported by an Arts for All ArtsAMP grant awarded to Associate Professor of Art Shannon Collis, the exhibition is a collaboration between Collis and Baltimore-based photographer, video artist and educator Liz Donadio.

Highlighting the juxtaposition between the heavily industrialized Curtis Bay neighborhood and the natural beauty of Masonville Covet—a wildlife refuge only 2 miles away—the exhibit uses video, sound and technology to immerse viewers in a vivid sensory environment that invites contemplation about how the harbor, industry, neighborhoods and natural areas interconnect.

See the exhibition at Pikesville Armory this weekend, April 17-19 and next weekend April 25-26. Learn more at go.umd.edu/resonant-site

Art has the power to heal, to inspire hope and to uplift those in need. Amrutha Alibilli ’27, a neuroscience and Spanish double major with a minor in data science, used funding from her Arts for All ArtsAMP grant to fund her project “ARTiculate Narratives Project: Weaving Marginalized Voices into a Tapestry of Hope.” Last year, the project served 40+ marginalized artists and children with neurodisabilities by alleviating the financial burden of art supplies and providing them an online platform to share their work. We are thrilled to welcome Brazilian-American, Grammy-nominated composer, pianist, vocalist and educator Clarice Assad as our Arts for All Artist in Residence this fall!

At UMD, Assad is performing, mentoring and collaborating across disciplines—using music as a force for connection and change. She is teaching the new course "Environmental Storytelling Through Music & Technology" in the University of Maryland School of Music, where students are creating a collaborative digital album that responds to climate change and imagines sustainable futures.

Mark your calendars for October 7, when she will lead "Voxtopia," a public workshop co-presented with and SustainableUMD that invites the community to explore how climate change impacts our lives. Registration is available at go.umd.edu/voxtopia.

Join us in giving her a warm welcome!
