Yesterday, we hosted our Terps Thank You: 2026 Volunteer Appreciation Reception to celebrate and honor the incredible contributions of our volunteers and campus supporters involved in our career education programming. 🙌

Through initiatives such as Intern for a Day, career courses, career chats and panels, career shuttles, and more, our volunteers and supporters have played a vital role in creating meaningful experiences and career exposure for students, advancing our mission. This reception serves not only as a gesture of thanks but also as a moment to bring together our vibrant community, reflect on our shared accomplishments, and reinforce the importance of collaboration in empowering the next generation of Terps. 🐢

✨To showcase the impact of our volunteers, here’s a glimpse of how they have helped make UMD students career-ready from 2025 to 2026.

✔️Over 35 panels and chats were held, covering topics like GIS, Think Tanks, Health Informatics, IT, Social Work, Chesapeake Bay Conservation, Life Sciences, and more.

✔️561 students were matched with 131 unique hosts to explore career paths and professions through Intern for a Day.

✔️744 students enrolled in our 1-credit career courses (EDCP108i & PSYC123) received individual resume reviews and mock interviews from 135 unique volunteers.

🗣️During our reception, student participants who benefited from these career-transformative programs led a meaningful discussion. They joined our volunteers to reflect on their experiences with Courses, Panels, and Career Chats, providing valuable feedback to help us refine and expand our future offerings.

We are deeply grateful to our student guests—Alejandra Arce-Lastra, Frances Schoenly, Jimmy G., Vera Awodele, and Henry Bado—for sharing their stories and guiding our group conversations.

We extend a heartfelt thank-you to program manager Jenny Sak and the University Career Center staff for coming together to create a truly memorable, Terp-worthy reception.

Lastly, we sincerely thank every volunteer. Your dedication and expertise are the driving force behind the career-transformative support that empowers our Terps to reach their highest potential. 💼💗
