This week, BSOS is proud to celebrate our many graduates. We congratulate all of our newest alumni, including Aspen King, who has earned a B.S. in African American and Africana Studies! Aspen is from Hagerstown, Md., and hopes to join the Secret Service one day.

Among Aspen’s favorite memories at UMD is when the Maryland women’s basketball team made the Sweet 16, and she was working as a team manager. Go Terps!

Aspen’s advice to her fellow graduates? “This is your life, and you only get one shot. Make the most out of it and enjoy every small moment. Be proud of yourself for how far you’ve come!”

Closing out our 2026 BSOS Graduate Spotlights is Savannah Robbins, a Rockville, Maryland native who will soon be graduating with a B.S. in Psychology! 👏

After graduation, Savannah plans to attend Towson University's master's degree program in counseling psychology, so she can be trained as a therapist.

To her fellow graduates, Savannah says, "Live in the moment! This time went by so fast and so will the rest of life. Hold the people you love close and hit the pillow each day feeling content that you lived that day to the fullest."

Congratulations, Savannah!

Due to the forecast for severe weather on May 20, the main Commencement ceremony will move to its planned alternative date on Thursday, May 21, 2026. This change does not affect individual school and college ceremonies.

We understand that this change may be disruptive, but know that we have made this decision to prioritize safety and to provide the best possible experience for graduates and guests.

More information and the ceremony live stream will be available at commencement.umd.edu. We look forward to celebrating our Terrapin graduates!
