From ballerina to biologist, Enya Hoxha is bringing discipline, curiosity & determination into the lab.

As a molecular and cell biology major at Texas A&M Biology, she is helping advance bacteriophage research that could one day contribute to a better understanding of conditions like IBS, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Along the way, Enya has also found balance and community through the Aggie Ballet Company, continuing to stay connected to the art form that first shaped her.

Investment in research is an investment in people, progress and the communities we serve.

With support from a $13 million Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund grant, the Texas A&M Cyclotron Institute is expanding its capacity to advance semiconductor research, testing and discovery science. This growth will strengthen opportunities for students, faculty and industry partners while enhancing the institute’s ability to support innovation in areas that make an impact far beyond the lab.

“Cyclotron Institute fundamental and applied research and testing contribute to multiple sectors that are critical to the success of our nation and its research, security and defense.” -- Dr. Sherry J. Yennello, director.

Student athlete Ashton Funk is a remarkable Aggie, in and out of the classroom. As a junior biology major and offensive lineman, Ashton spends his days tackling opponents on the field and Alzheimer’s disease in the lab. His research on sleep patterns in fruit flies is helping scientists understand this complex disease.

Recently honored with the 2025 Ryan Tannehill Student-Athlete Excellence Award, Ashton embodies the Aggie Core Values of leadership, integrity and service. Way to represent, Ashton! 👏
