🦾 👏 Sneak peek at our Prosthetic Arm Data Sleeve team who showcased their data-acquisition sleeve at Texas A&M University's Engineering Project Showcase last week!

Calling current sophomore and junior students! See what your future capstone experience can look like by attending the Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering at Texas A&M University’s senior interdisciplinary engineering capstone presentations on Monday, April 27, from 1:00–4:00 p.m.

You’ll have the chance to observe real-world problem solving, ask questions, and gather ideas for your own future projects as you hear from these teams:

Meet Aaron Hickerson '27-- this week's 🌟 Student Spotlight! 🌟

An interdisciplinary engineering senior, he's a man with many hats!

⚙️ - Secretary for the Texas A&M American Society of Mechanical Engineers
🏎️ - Electric Powertrain Engineer with the A&M Society of Automative Engineers and the Formula EV/Formula Electric team
🏁 - Leader for the 2026-2027 Texas A&M ASME go-kart program

"I love teaching and mentoring young engineers, and my role in ASME allows me to do that. Being a member of FSAE aligns with all my career goals of becoming an automotive engineer at the intersection of mechanical and electrical disciplines. Playing trumpet has been a big part of my younger life, and I've taken this into college because it allows me to go to a bunch of Aggie sports, and it gives me the opportunity to travel.

My experience as an MTDE student has been incredibly rewarding. The program has given me the flexibility to take both MEEN and ECEN classes, giving me the best of both worlds. I’m able to pursue all of the courses I’m passionate about while still graduating in four years."

Congratulations to our newest doctor on defending her dissertation — Dr. Pauline Wade! An interdisciplinary engineering Ph.D. student, she is also a full-time Professor of Practice in the Texas A&M University Department of Computer Science and Engineering. With 30+ years of experience in the IT industry and 20 years of mentoring university students under her belt, Dr. Wade is proof that education is a lifelong pursuit no matter the stage of your career.

As one of her favorite quotes says, “Pick yourself up, dust yourself off; this train is moving on!”

Meet this week's Student Stoplight -- architectural engineering senior Kayla Johnson '26! 🏛️ 🩵 ⚙️

She is the Fundraising Director for Phi Sigma Rho, a women’s engineering sorority centered on encouragement, scholarship, and friendship, and a member of the Texas A&M Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI).

"Through Phi Sigma Rho, I have built lifelong friendships, learned valuable lessons, and created meaningful memories. Being surrounded by such incredible women in STEM who constantly encourage and uplift one another both professionally and personally has been an inspiring and empowering experience. Through AEI, I’ve been able to begin building my career while still a student, connecting with professionals and gaining insight into the architectural engineering field. It’s opened doors to valuable networking opportunities and potential internships.

My experience as an MTDE student has been incredibly rewarding. The department has opened many doors for me and my classmates through unique opportunities such as traveling to Greece and attending the IIBEC Convention and Trade Show. Our department head Dr. Timothy Jacobs has been appointed the Heat Transfer Research Incorporated Endowed Professor in the J. Mike Walker '66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University! 🌟 🏆

Dr. Jacobs studies internal combustion engines, teaches courses on thermodynamics and other thermal-fluid sciences, and is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was recognized with this award at yesterday's Texas A&M University College of Engineering Faculty Awards Banquet.

Congratulations, Dr. Jacobs!
