📲With the fall semester officially underway, we wanted to take a minute to debunk a few myths about our emergency notification system. Code Maroon is the system used for official notifications of emergencies affecting our campus. We recommend anyone who comes to campus enroll in these notifications, including students of ALL levels, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors. There are multiple ways to receive messages, but in order to receive text messages, you must register your cell phone. Still need to register? Head to codemaroon.tamu.edu to enroll today. 🏃‍➡️

❗️If you frequently visit or attend classes at other campuses such as RELLIS, Texas A&M University at Galveston, Texas A&M-Fort Worth, the Higher Education Center at McAllen, or Texas A&M Health, be sure to enroll in their specific notifications too as Code Maroon is only for our main campus in College Station.

With move-in week kicking off, our team wanted to give some tips on what they think students should keep in their emergency kits. Remember, these kits do not have to be fancy. Just get a bag big enough to hold a few basics, like the things mentioned above! What is something you HAVE to have in your emergency kit? Drop it below👇🏼

You know what's kinda chic? Being prepared! With the fall semester right around the corner, consider this your official reminder to be registered for Code Maroon, to have a fully stocked emergency kit ready in the event of an incident, and to stay hydrated during move-in. 👍

National Emergency Management Awareness Month is a time to bring awareness to our profession and highlight some of our capabilities. Our team focuses on identifying potential risks and vulnerabilities that can impact the university community and implements strategies to mitigate them before they escalate into emergencies. This includes conducting regular assessments, developing safety protocols, and promoting awareness among students, faculty, and staff about emergency procedures. The team is also responsible for working with public safety partners, campus departments, and University leadership to respond to and help recover from emergencies affecting the campus community. For more information about what we do, how we do it, and how to connect with us, check out the link in our bio! 👍

Did someone say Meet the Team Thursdays are back?! Today, we would like to introduce our summer intern, Elizabeth Lewis!
Elizabeth is a current second year graduate student here at Texas A&M’s The Bush School of Government & Public Service getting her masters in Public Service & Administration, along with a certificate in Homeland Security & National Defense. She also graduated with her bachelors from Texas A&M in 2025 and was a member of Squadron 11 and 1st Group Staff in our Texas A&M Corps of Cadets . When she is not interning with the best Emergency Management team, you can find her working as a dispatcher with Texas A&M University Police Department . Outside of work she loves baking, hanging out with her family and fiancé, and adding to her ever-growing collection of Lego flowers. We have loved having her here with us for the summer!

The struggle of getting college students to care about personal preparedness is REAL!! 😫 (but we won’t stop trying 😉) One of our goals here on campus is to ensure our students have the resources and information they need to make smart decisions in the event of an emergency. Be sure to stay tuned for details on our future tabling events, and in the meantime, if you want to find more information on what all we do, checkout out our website em.tamu.edu 👍🏼

Last week, our executive director traveled to Taiwan where she presented at the New Taipei City Disaster Management International Conference alongside delegates from Singapore, South Korea, and Japan. She presented on Disaster Prevention Strategies for Sports and Special Events, sharing lessons learned from our recent summer events at Kyle Field. Following the conference, she had an opportunity to meet the Mayor of New Taipei City and tour their Emergency Operations Center. We are extremely proud of her and glad she had the opportunity to represent Texas A&M on an international level. 👍👏
