Check out what's been happening in our classes! AGSC 402 students just delivered their second major lesson presentation, a high-energy 50-minute microteach! These aspiring ag educators tackled subjects from food science to floral design, plant science, and animal science, using live demonstrations to bring learning to life. Their creativity and teaching confidence soared, building off their earlier, shorter lessons. Now, they're gearing up to take these skills to agriculture education programs across Texas, turning classroom ideas into real-world impact.

This week's Teacher Tuesday spotlight features ALEC graduate Kalyn Patranella, who is making an impact at Porter High School by teaching Principles of Agriculture, Small Animal Management, and Equine Science.
Beyond the classroom, Ms. Patranella looks forward to guiding students through their rabbit projects, instilling vital skills in animal husbandry, financial record-keeping, and day-to-day responsibility. Her unwavering support and dedication to FFA projects will undoubtedly inspire students to grow into confident, capable agricultural leaders.

For Ms. Olivia Driskell, teaching agriculture is about creating opportunities for students to learn, grow, and discover their passions. As she begins her first year at Lipan High School, she is leading courses in Advanced Animal Science, Equine & Small Animal Management, Principles of AFNR, and Livestock Production.

Beyond the classroom, Ms. Driskell is excited to coach the Greenhand LDE team, helping students develop leadership skills, build confidence, and strengthen their agricultural knowledge through FFA. Her enthusiasm for agricultural education and commitment to student success will undoubtedly make a lasting impact on the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Our department head, Dr. Stacy Vincent, joined AGSC 402/602 to present, "Where are the boys? The current phenomenon & approaches for improving the profession." The discussion encouraged future agricultural educators to examine current trends in education, think critically about challenges facing the profession, and explore ways to strengthen the future of teaching.

Conversations like these prepare the next generation of agricultural educators, with the knowledge, perspective, and leadership needed to make a lasting impact in classrooms across the country.

For Mrs. Kayla Meier, teaching agriculture is a labor of love. As a first-year ag teacher at Shallowater High School, she teaches 8th Grade Principles of Agriculture, High School Principles of Agriculture, Advanced Plant Science, and Advanced Animal Science.

Teaching has taught Mrs. Meier just as much as she teaches her students. Through every new challenge, she has discovered her patience, strengthened her passion for agriculture, and grown both personally and professionally. She feels fortunate to learn and walk alongside her students each day, helping them develop their own interests and skills in agriculture.

Students explored coaching philosophies, essential coaching characteristics, and career opportunities within the profession while learning how coaches can make a lasting impact on the lives of young people.

Our senior Agricultural Education students in AGSC 402/602 recently took an exciting step toward their future classrooms by delivering their first Micro-Teach Demonstrations. This milestone provides students with the opportunity to practice instructional strategies, build confidence in front of their peers, and receive valuable feedback as they prepare for their upcoming student teaching experiences. These future educators are developing the skills needed to inspire the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Aggie Action Spotlight: Aubrey Ellis 🎉

Aubrey spent her summer interning with Infinity Cattle Services, where she created promotional graphics, social media content, sale advertisements, consignor spotlights, and other marketing materials for clients across the Brahman cattle industry.

Through this opportunity, she strengthened her skills in agricultural communications, marketing, photography, graphic design, and client relations while helping promote cattle sales and industry events. Seeing projects come to life and developing content for real clients helped Aubrey grow in both confidence and professionalism as she prepares for a career in agriculture.
