Our Story
Company V-1 was founded in 1976 as a merger of R-1 and Sq 13, both day student units. V-1 began as the Vultures and changed to the Volunteers for a time. It is now Viper Company and has been for most of it’s history. It is one of only two off campus units left in the Corps of Cadets and is the only outfit that carries the POW/MIA streamer on their guidon. Eligibility requirements for V-1 are as follows: Married students or students with children Current or former service members Student athletes Graduate Students Students whose parents live in the area Some international students Other specially approved cases V-1 meets every day the Corps are scheduled for activity. Taking place mostly in the morning, activities include physical training, drill practice, professional development, administrative work, or other training items. Cadets in Company V-1 participate in all Corps wide events during the week and on weekends. Members of Viper company are not required to have a meal plan as they are not required to eat in Duncan Hall. Cadets who join V-1 should have a strong work ethic as living off campus means nobody will be there to make sure they get out of bed in time for PT with the right uniform items. We attempt to instill a lifestyle of leadership, discipline, integrity, selfless service, honor and courage in our cadets. Day cadets must develop themselves by engaging in training and applying lessons to Corps activities and everyday life.
