After 39 years of dedicated service, Luke Altendorf is retiring from the Division of Student Affairs.

Since joining in 1987, Luke has embodied what it means to be a student-centered leader. He began as an advisor for students on the MSC OPAS Committee, bringing the performing arts closer to the Aggie and Brazos Valley community. As director of the L.T. Jordan Institute for International Awareness, he helped students expand their global horizons. In 2005, his work in the department culminated in him becoming the third director of the Memorial Student Center β€” where he continued a proud legacy of building programs that have prepared Aggies as leaders.

Luke's influence includes division staff, too. In 2023, he transitioned to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs as Director of Strategic Collaborations, spearheading the division's Leadership Academy which strengthens staff's supervisory skills.

His impact will continue to resonate throughout Aggieland for years to come. We wish Luke all the best in his next chapter.

Before classes begin for the fall semester at Texas A&M University incoming freshman can attend Fish Camp β€” an extended orientation program designed to help new students learn more about becoming a part of the Aggie family.

Texas A&M ranks No. 3 among public universities in the U.S. for first-year experience and Fish Camp is a part of the reason why. Over three days, new students knock down the nervous barriers that come with starting college, make lifelong connections, and get a head start on what it means to be an Aggie.

This week on On Air with Student Affairs, student directors Adrian, Adam, and Marisa share what Fish Camp is all about.

Tune in to see why these former campers turned student leaders believe there's something at Fish Camp for everybody β€” πŸŽ™οΈπŸ”— https://youtu.be/Abc8c1v-2s8
