This fee will generate approximately $300,000 per academic year for sustainability initiatives.

The Aggie Green Fund is a student initiated and student controlled fund that empowers students to take action and bring about novel and creative sustainability initiatives to the Texas A&M University campus. In the spring of 2010, a consortium of student organizations lead the charge to implement a $3.00 per fall or spring semester fee or a $1.50 summer semester fee. The students passed the referendum with 57% supporting the effort.

☀️🏎️ Racing toward a cleaner future, one solar cell at a time. This $2,311.71 grant supports Texas A&M Solar Car Racing as the team designs, builds, and races a vehicle powered entirely by the sun. Beyond the competition, this project gives students hands-on experience in renewable energy engineering, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with solar power while proving that sustainable transportation isn’t just a concept — it’s something Aggies are building in the shop right now. 🔋🌎

🚪🌱 Sustainability isn’t just environmental — it’s social, too. This $3,431.00 grant will fund automatic entrance buttons, making building access easier for students and visitors with disabilities, mobility challenges, or anyone with their hands full. By improving accessibility at building entrances, this project supports the “social” pillar of sustainability, ensuring campus spaces are welcoming and usable for everyone, not just some. It’s a small hardware change with an outsized impact on accessibility and everyday campus life. 💚♿

👖🏗️ Old jeans headed for the landfill are getting a second purpose. This $3,600.00 grant will supply BUILD with recycled denim insulation, diverting textile waste while giving student-led construction projects a sustainable, effective building material. Instead of relying on traditional fiberglass insulation, BUILD volunteers will use denim made from post-consumer cotton — cutting down on textile waste and keeping the clinics they build safe for the student volunteers building them. It’s a simple swap with a big ripple effect: less waste in landfills, healthier building materials, and hands-on sustainability experience for the students making it happen. 🧵🌎

📦♻️ Every year, move-out season sends tons of usable items straight to the dumpster — but this grant is turning that waste stream into a resource instead. Donate, Don’t Dump! will set up collection stations across campus housing during move out to capture furniture, clothing, appliances, and other reusable items before they hit the landfill, redirecting them to local donation partners and students in need. What used to be an avoidable end-of-year waste spike becomes a chance to keep good items in use, cut disposal costs, and build a lasting culture of reuse at Texas A&M. This $3,989.54 grant creates a repeatable, visible model for turning move-out waste into community impact. 🌎💚
