From the first ignition to the final lap, this weekend we paid tribute to those who serve at NASCAR San Diego.

The U.S. Navy’s 250th year of defending America. Texas A&M’s 150th year of shaping leaders with purpose. And the story of George H.W. Bush, who served our country as a Navy aviator, then as a U.S. President, and left a lasting legacy of service on our campus.

The No. 41 car carried that story on the track, reflecting Aggies’ shared commitment to standing together as a force for good.

The No. 41 isn't just on the track. Texas A&M is taking over the streets of San Diego during the NASCAR San Diego race weekend, celebrating the Texas A&M 41 car and driving Aggie Spirit beyond the raceway into the community.

Former President George H.W. Bush's legacy of service continues to shape generations of Aggies.

He believed that “public service is a noble calling” and built a school to ensure future leaders believe the same. Today, the The Bush School of Government & Public Service develops Aggies who lead with character, serve with humility and live by his belief that “Any definition of a successful life must include serving others.”

That's the heart of what Texas A&M meant to him — a place to invest in the kind of leaders the world needs.

Hayden Schott '25 met with Fred McClure ‘76, who served in Bush’s presidential administration, to learn how that mission endures.
