This past week, leaders from many different organizations across the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences had the incredible opportunity to come together at our annual C.O.A.L.S. Collective event to hear from President Ballabina, the 28th President of Texas A&M University. We are thankful to her for taking the time to come and spend the evening with us and we are grateful for her leadership.

At our last meeting, the service committee collected school supplies from C.O.A.L.S. Council members to be donated to the local Boys and Girls Club of the the Brazos Valley. Our council was able to donate over 250 pounds of school supplies! Thank you to everyone who brought supplies and thank you to our service committee for facilitating such an impactful event and helping support local student!

We had an incredible time kicking off the year at Rise and Shine with AGLS! We got to talk with many students about C.O.A.L.S. Council and C.O.A.L.S. FX. Students also had the opportunity to hear from other organizations within the college. Thank you to everyone who joined us! We are looking forward to the year ahead!

This summer, Avery Fohn, our Vice President of Leadership, and Miranda Skaggs, our Vice President of Service, have the opportunity to serve as interns in Washington, D.C.! Avery is working as a policy intern for the American Sugar Alliance, while Miranda is interning in the office of Congressman Jake Ellzey (TX-06). We are proud of the hard work these two members have put in to earn these opportunities and wish them and all of our other members interning in D.C. the best for the rest of the summer!

We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our beloved members, Avery Detten. Avery was a cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her during her time here at Texas A&M University and on C.O.A.L.S. Council.

Avery was filled with so much love, kindness, and compassion, which was evident in everything she did. She touched the lives of so many and will be missed greatly. We are incredibly grateful for the time and memories we shared with her.

Please continue to keep the entire Detten family, as well as Avery’s friends and loved ones, in your prayers during this difficult time.
