Strengthening the Next Generation of Math Educators!

Artificial intelligence is transforming the classroom, and Texas A&M researchers are leading the way in integrating tech with pedagogy!

Dr. Ali Bicer (Texas A&M Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture) and his team are exploring innovative ways to leverage AI to enhance math teacher preparation—helping future educators foster mathematical creativity, streamline lesson scaffolding, and design interactive problem-posing activities.

The Research Enterprise & Outreach (REO) office was proud to collaborate alongside Dr. Bicer on this initiative, supporting project outreach and helping bridge groundbreaking research with real-world impact for educators and students across Texas.

The CEHD REO office hosted our new faculty for a morning of networking, camaraderie, and orientation to research here at Texas A&M!

We covered research development resources, helped faculty setup/update their research profiles with their new TAMU affiliations, and covered strategies on finding partners and getting their research funded.
In addition to the REO team and other TAMU experts, several second- and third-year faculty joined us to share their own experiences and insights on getting started in research and grantsmanship. The CEHD Centers & Institutes also came out to welcome the new faculty and discuss opportunities for collaboration.

The future of farming goes far beyond the field—and the Research Enterprise & Outreach (REO) team at Texas A&M’s College of Education and Human Development is ensuring our rural students lead the way!

By bridging cutting-edge research with hands-on outreach, REO worked directly with Dr. Tugce Aldemir (TLAC) and Texas school districts to bring modern agriculture technology, data, and STEM innovation straight into rural classrooms. Through our dedicated support for educator professional development and community-centered learning, we’re helping the next generation of rural leaders prepare for high-impact careers right in their home communities.

The Summer 2026 KAT Institutes achieved remarkable success, with Dr. Kay Wijekumar (TLAC) and her team successfully delivering the KAT (Knowledge, Acquisition & Transformation) literacy framework in two professional development trainings across Texas and Michigan, reaching approximately 200 educators, administrators, professors, and advocates of high-quality literacy, who gained evidence-based strategies for effectively integrating KAT into reading instruction.

What a great time at the Texas Rural Education Association annual conference this week! Texas A&M Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture faculty member Dr. Rebecca Sansom helped rural educators learn about using technology-mediated lesson study. This is a collaborative professional learning approach that adapts traditional lesson study for geographically dispersed educators by using digital tools to plan, observe, and refine instruction together.
