For years, ghrelin has been widely known as the body’s “hunger hormone,” the signal that tells us when it is time to eat. But research in Dr. Yuxiang Sun's lab suggests ghrelin’s role in the body is far more complex - and she would know, she's been investigating ghrelin's role in the human body for over two decades!

In this month's , we're highlighting the work of Dr. Jenny Wu! Dr. Wu works on the gut brain axis, and specifically the role that gut-brain interactions play in chronic disease and aging. She uses huge range of methods to investigate her research questions, which has led her to many interesting discoveries about neuroinflammation, gut microbiome remodeling, and diet impacts on gut microbe diversity.

Not to mention she's an excellent mentor and teacher - we are lucky to have her training several undergraduate and graduate students, and teaching NUTR 366 (Nutrition in the Human Body I).
