📚 A CLASSIC RETURNS! The Veterinary Assistant Handbook – First Edition Is Back! 🐾

Some resources are more than just books — they are part of our history! ❤️

We are excited to announce that the Veterinary Assistant Handbook – First Edition is back in production and available again through the AgriLife Learn storefront!

Originally written by Dr. Buddy Faries, this book represents the foundation of the Veterinary Science Certificate Program (VSCP) and the vision that helped shape the program we know today. Dr. Faries’ original work laid the groundwork for the continued growth and development of our curriculum, leading to the current textbook used by veterinary science students and educators.

🐄 A valuable resource for Texas FFA Veterinary Science CDE contestants! This handbook has also served as a resource for students preparing for the Texas FFA Veterinary Science Career Development Event (CDE), helping support veterinary science knowledge and learning.

This is a special opportunity to revisit the resource that helped pave the way for generations of veterinary science education. Whether you are a longtime VSCP educator, a former student, an FFA advisor, or someone interested in the history of the program, this first edition is a meaningful piece of our legacy!

This hands-on kit gives students the opportunity to practice essential veterinary clinical skills, including:

🐾 Safe patient head stabilization
👁️ Exposing the lower conjunctival sac
💧 Administering ophthalmic drops and ointments
🧤 Preventing applicator tip contamination

Designed with realistic, reusable silicone eye models and practice-safe materials, this kit is perfect for CTE Veterinary Science programs and FFA Veterinary Science CDE preparation!

This National 4-H Week, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible opportunities 4-H provides young people—and we’re especially proud to support the next generation of veterinary and animal science professionals. 🩺🐾

The VSCP works alongside 4-H programs, agents, volunteers, and educators to provide hands-on veterinary science education and opportunities for students to explore careers in veterinary medicine and animal science.

From the classroom to the show barn, we believe that hands-on experiences, great mentors, and a strong support system can help students turn an interest in animals into a future career. 🌟

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Veterinary Science Certificate Program is now accepting registrations for the Spring 2027 Virtual Veterinary Academy! 🎓

💻 Virtual Veterinary Academy (VVA) provides students with an engaging, structured way to complete veterinary science coursework while building knowledge and skills that can help prepare them for future careers in veterinary medicine and animal science.
