25 combined years of service. 💙

This week, we’re celebrating four Southside College of Health Sciences associates recognized at the SMC Service Recognition Reception for reaching important service milestones.

Joanne Bogese, Benita Myrick and Elizabeth Turner were each recognized for five years of service, while Brooke Riley was recognized for 10 years of service.

Their dedication is a testament to the care and commitment they bring to our students every day, helping create the supportive, high-quality educational experience our students deserve.

We’re incredibly grateful to have them as part of the SCHS community. 💙 Help us celebrate Joanne, Benita, Elizabeth and Brooke by congratulating them in the comments!

SHEF Health Careers Explorers spent time at Southside College of Health Sciences getting a hands-on look at health care education. 🩺

During their visit, students explored different health professions, practiced new skills and experienced some of the same learning environments our students use as they prepare for careers in health care.

We loved having the SHEF Explorers at Southside and giving them a closer look at the many paths available in health care. 💙

SCHS students took a break from the books and brought plenty of creativity to our tie-dye event. Good company, a little sunshine and some colorful creations made for a pretty great day.

The journey starts here. 🩺🕯️

Southside College of Health Sciences celebrated its first Stethoscope Ceremony, marking an important beginning for our nursing students.

Each student received a stethoscope as a symbol of the responsibility, compassion and trust they will carry into every patient interaction. During the candle-lighting ceremony, they reflected on the light and hope they are called to bring to the patients, families and communities they will serve.

Surrounded by classmates, faculty and loved ones, our students took one of their first meaningful steps toward becoming nurses.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Amy Feurer as she begins her new role as Dean of Curriculum and Instruction for Bon Secours Richmond Higher Education Institutions and Campus Director for Southside College of Health Sciences.

Dr. Feurer brings 31 years of nursing experience and has served with the ministry since March 2008. Over the past three years, she has worked closely with the SCHS nursing program through her role as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing, building a strong foundation for this next chapter.

In this role, she looks forward to further engaging with SCHS programs, building meaningful relationships with radiologic and sonography program leadership and faculty and continuing to support students, faculty and staff across campus.

To Dr. Feurer, SCHS reflects the Bon Secours Mercy Health mission to provide good help to those in need. Through high-quality education in nursing, radiology and sonography, the college plays a vital role in strengthening the health of our community.

“It is truly an honor to step into this role,” she shared. “I look forward to continuing to serve and support this community.”
