“I didn’t become a nurse until two weeks before I turned 38,” Braxton said. “Before that, I was blue collar. I did a lot of landscaping, window washing, pressure washing, stuff like that in Florida. I owned a landscaping business, and then I asked myself the hard question, which a lot of people won’t do: Do I want to do this when I’m in my 50s? And the answer immediately that I spoke in my own head was no.”
