Meet Laith Almashharawi, MD ⬇️
Almashharawi's black and gold ties run deep, growing up in Columbia, Missouri, and earning his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri. He joined the School of Medicine Springfield campus in 2024 and recently achieved his medical degree last month.
Reflecting on his time in Springfield, Almashharawi highlights the incredible clinical experience he obtained.
"The physicians you interact with are amazing and excited to teach. They're kind to you during the learning process and welcome collaboration."
In March, he earned a residency match in Diagnostic Radiology at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, Minnesota. Looking ahead in his healthcare career, Almashharawi notes influences from his time in Springfield.
"My two years there made me realize how much I enjoy working in rural communities. The patients I interacted with were so kind and thankful. In the future, I hope to effectively balance my practice, teaching and community service."
