Our mission at the Cancer Prevention and Control Program is to reduce the overall burden of cancer by eliminating cancer disparities and making effective methods of preventing and controlling cancer available to all. The Cancer Prevention and Control Program was founded in 2003 to tackle the epidemic of cancer in South Carolina, working directly with members of the community to investigate why can

cer and health disparities are such urgent problems in our state as compared to the rest of the country. Dr. James Hébert is the founder and director of the Cancer Prevention and Control Program.
