We're putting the spotlight on Dr. Wes Warnhoff (Associate Teaching Professor, Clarinet) for this week's School of Music faculty feature! ⭐🎶

Dr. Warnhoff attended Festival Mozaic in San Luis Obispo, CA where he was a featured performer this past summer. Enjoy this recording of Glazunov's Reverie Orientale!

Festival Mozaic is an annual celebration of music that takes place on California's beautiful Central Coast in San Luis Obispo County. The Festival consists of chamber music concerts, orchestra performances, crossover and popular artists, Notable Encounter dinners and educational events, and free community events including mini-concerts, family concerts, master classes, lectures, and open rehearsals. Festival artists are the best in their field and come to San Luis Obispo from all over the world. Festival Mozaic presents a two-week series of events each summer, typically at the end of July. The Festival also has "presenting" series during the year that includes chamber performances by Festival artists as well as special guest performers.

•Published a book: Experiencing Sound and Environment in the Music of Max Neuhaus, Routledge

•Received a Missouri Studies grant from the Kinder Institute to continue developing the "Missouri Music" curriculum

•Elected Midwest Representative of the American Musicological Society's Council

University of Missouri composer Utku Asuroglu was one of six artists worldwide selected for a Serge Koussevitzky Music Foundation commission.

Congratulations to SOM graduate student Hanna Noh, who accepted one of two flute positions at the Colorado College Summer Music Festival following a competitive audition process! Hanna was also a winner of the festival’s concerto competition and performed Nielsen’s Flute Concerto with the student orchestra.

Just a few days ago, at the National Flute Convention in Portland, Oregon, Hanna competed in the final round of the Orchestral Audition and Masterclass and took first place! She also received a $1,000 prize.

Hanna’s professor, Alice Dade, has been instrumental in helping her prepare for these opportunities and is incredibly proud of all that Hanna has accomplished. MIZ!

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Eva Szekely after a brief and sudden illness.

For 50 years, Eva was a cherished member of the University of Missouri School of Music, inspiring generations of students through her exceptional artistry, unwavering dedication to teaching, and generous spirit. Her impact on our school extends far beyond the classroom, and her warmth, wisdom, and friendship will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her. Please keep Eva's family, friends, and former students in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Once we know more about any future funeral or celebration of life arrangements, we will let everyone know.
