Students: Put AI to work. Solve a real client challenge. Compete for $15,000 in cash prizes.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, the University of South Carolina's Student AI Challenge gives college students the opportunity to solve a real-world communications challenge using advanced AI tools and guidance from industry mentors

Students will collaborate with leaders from leading AI and communications companies while developing solutions they'll present to a panel of industry judges. The competition follows Friday’s AI in Media, Advertising and Public Relations Conference.

The conference and Student AI Challenge are free for students. Attend Friday, Saturday or both.

We're honored to welcome Andrew Robertson, Chairman of BBDO Worldwide, as a featured speaker at the inaugural AI in Media, Advertising & Public Relations Conference at the University of South Carolina on Friday, Oct. 9.

Andrew is the author of “The Creative Shift: How to Power Up Your Organization by Making Space for New Ideas” and was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame in 2022. He has also been recognized as one of the world's 100 most influential leaders in marketing, media and technology alongside Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook and Jeff Bezos.

Congratulations to Mary Smithnosky on receiving an SCBA scholarship for the 2026–2027 academic year!

Mary is pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism within the College of Information and Communications. She is actively building her experience as a reporter for SGTV and as an entertainment anchor for Student News at Seven.

After graduation, Mary hopes to pursue a career as a news reporter or anchor for a local television or radio station.

Join us in celebrating Ashley Slavin on being awarded an SCBA scholarship for the 2026–2027 academic year!

Ashley is majoring in broadcast journalism with a concentration in political science and stays actively involved in student media through the University’s station and Carolina Insider.

After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in political reporting, bringing important stories to audiences and communities.

We’re so proud to congratulate Caroline Sastoque on receiving an SCBA scholarship for the 2026–2027 academic year!

Caroline is pursuing a degree in sports media with a minor in sport and entertainment management. She serves as a CIC student ambassador and is spending this summer as the lead social media intern for the Southern Collegiate Baseball League.

After graduation, Caroline hopes to pursue a career covering the PGA or serving as a team reporter for an NFL organization.

Tara is pursuing a degree in mass communications with a minor in media arts. Beyond the classroom, she serves as a disc jockey for WUSG, writes for Garnet and Black magazine and works as business manager for Cocktails, a female-led student a ca****la group.

After graduation, Tara hopes to build a career in written, audio and visual storytelling.

Isabella is pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism with a concentration in sports media, along with a minor in sport and entertainment management.

We are proud to congratulate Lucy Dixon on receiving an SCBA scholarship for the 2026–2027 academic year!

Lucy is pursuing a journalism degree with a retail minor through the South Carolina Honors College.

Outside the classroom, she has built impressive professional experience, serving as Harper’s BAZAAR’s Summer 2025 editorial intern in New York City and working this summer as a multimedia communications intern at the South Carolina Environmental Law Project. After graduation, Lucy plans to attend law school and pursue a career in media law or environmental and political reporting.

We are proud of Lucy’s achievements and look forward to seeing all she accomplishes in the years ahead.
