💗 Walking for awareness! 💗

Our Student Nurses’ Association kicked off a week of breast cancer awareness events with a walk through the main building on campus. SNA members, students, faculty and staff filled the halls, and the walk ended with a rally in our Learning Commons.

We had a great turnout, and the energy was contagious! Thank you to the Student Nurses’ Association for bringing our campus together to support breast cancer awareness.

A new week is a reminder of the strength we carry, and the strength we can give to others.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re honoring those who have faced breast cancer, remembering those we’ve lost, celebrating survivors, and standing alongside the patients, families, caregivers, researchers, and healthcare professionals working every day to make a difference. 💗

Let this week’s reminder be simple: Keep going. Keep believing. Keep supporting one another.

Whether it’s encouraging someone through a difficult day, making time for your health, or simply reminding someone that they’re not alone, small acts of support can make a meaningful impact.

💗 This Monday, let’s lead with strength, hope, and compassion.

As Su***de Prevention Month comes to a close, our commitment to one another doesn't end with September. Every day of the year is a chance to remind ourselves that you matter, your life matters, and you don't have to face difficult moments alone.

Our Su***de Prevention Awareness Table is still available with helpful information, resources, and supportive materials for our students. We encourage everyone to stop by, learn more, take a resource, and most importantly, check on one another.

If you're struggling, feeling overwhelmed, or simply need someone to talk to, please reach out to someone you trust or connect with campus support. Asking for help is a sign of strength.

: Starting the week inspired by our students' impact

Last week, South University, Columbia was honored to receive the Outstanding Program Support Award from Transitions Homeless Center!

The award was presented at Transitions' Reconstructing Home Art Show and Auction, an evening celebrating art, resilience, and the power of community to help people find their way home. Campus President Dr. Deborah Harris-Sims and Dean of Student Affairs Vance Charles (pictured) accepted the award on behalf of the university.

This recognition belongs to our students. They serve Transitions year-round by providing clinical assessments, running day-to-day programming, and supporting the center's clients. Their work shows what compassion and learning look like in action.

So here's your Monday reminder: the skills you're building in class today can change someone's life tomorrow. Let's make this week count.
