Mizzou Geology went all out this weekend to welcome new students, current students, faculty, staff, family and friends back for the Fall semester with our annual picnic at Cosmo Park. The academic year concluded with a strong emphasis on research, highlighted by the 37th Annual McNair Scholars Conference, which showcased the outstanding scholarly work of the 2025–26 McNair Scholars. Congratulations to Mathias Lobb, the representative from Geological Sciences, on successfully completing the program. Mathias presented his research on cololites from the Cretaceous Smoky Hill Chalk Member, conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Sarah Jacquet.
